As part of supporting this school KIKN also sponsors 7 of its pupils (see photo) from very poor backgrounds. The UK sponsors have written their letters to their individual children. In turn the children will respond to their letters. I will be collecting them on our Open day, to take them back to their sponsors.
KIKN is now sponsoring 40 children, some of whom are sponsored centrally without a named sponsor. For each sponsored child, KIKN provides a table and Solar lamp to enable them to study during the power cuts and winter evenings. A sturdy school bag with all the educational materials (20 exercise books, fountain pens with ink, pencils with erasers, ruler, set squares, multi – coloured paper pads etc) was given for each child. School fees and uniform are paid for as a matter of course.
On this occasion, boxes of noodles ad biscuits were also given to the 7 families. A package of clothing (winter coat, tracksuits, under clothng, socks etc) will be handed out to every one of our sponsored children on our Open Day. All KIKN asks is that they study hard and try to obtain good marks for their termly exams.
Meeting the Lubhoo children for the first time, Uma and I had to work out a system of recognising a face and put a name to her. It was quite hilarious at times when I addressed a child with the wrong name. This was compounded by some sponsors with their individual gifts for their children.
With Uma’s help,it was all sorted out satisfactorily.
Please meet our children from Lubhoo School.
