The live band ‘Pretty Loose’ performed superbly. KIKN very much appreciates that
KIKN dance 1.12.12 017 cpthe band gave up their time to help our fund-raising efforts. It ensured that the charity made a healthy profit to help the ‘kids in Kathmandu’.
Everyone who attended was very generous in buying raffle tickets and the Asian craft on sale, with donations thrown in. The fun loving crowd appeared to have a wonderful time.
It was a fantastic result for the charity, and we raised in excess of £1,500. The trustees express their heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped to make the event such a success.
First Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 17.11.12
KIKN held its first AGM on 17TH November 2012 at its registered address, with twenty people in attendance. The Chair, Janet Davies, opened the meeting outlining the challenges involved in the process of setting up and registering the charity. She took the audience through the first Annual Report and Accounts, highlighting the good governance built into the charity. The Annual Report demonstrates that the charity is financially viable and built on a strong foundation to move forward.kikm agm 17.11.12 001 cp
KIKM AGM 17.11.12 001 cpThis was followed by an update from the founder and Chief Officer, Lai See Chew. Lai See gave the background to the current work of KIKN, its future proposed projects, and the challenges the charity will continue to face to raise sufficient funds to support the children at the Save Lives Foundation orphanage and the Shree Neel Barahi School. The various fund-raising activities in the first year have produced good outcomes, in terms of funds raised, as well as useful contacts from the wider corporate world.

The number of individual children being sponsored is steadily increasing, and more support is being provided to the Shree Neel Barahi School, thanks to the generous support the charity is receiving from its sponsors, Friends and donors. A video DVD has been made of the children showing off their dancing skills and Karate prowess. It also captures the excitement of the children in front of the new computers we have purchased for the school. The video truly demonstrates our fund-raising in action.
Thank you to everyone who attended. The Annual Report and Accounts can be found on the website. If you would like a copy of the DVD please contact Lai See Chew via contact@kidsinkathmandu.org.uk
